Most commonly material used is asbestos and now fast making its way into the market is the fibreglass material. In the earlier days asbestos proved to be cheaper, but with health risks many are opting for the use of fibreglass instead. Most gaskets are wire-reinforced and carefully hand made according to required sizes to ensure proper fitting onto the boiler manhole or hanhole cover. 
 
Boiler door ropes are also very quickly being changed to fibreglass based and are available in two shapes. Depending on requirement round or square ropes are available in various sizes. Two types of ropes are also available Braided ( hard type) and Lagging ( soft type. The braided rope is mostly used for boiler, pressure vessel or oven doors. Unlike the rope lagging which is most commonly used for piping insulation. 

Webbing tapes are the most common insulation material used besides casted sleevings, which are more difficult to handle and use. Made of fibreglass they are cheaper and more effective that the asbestos based tapes which are being phased out due to health hazards. Ability to withstand high temperature the webbing tapes are available in various sized and lengths to suit application needs.
