Most common tool used are the steel brushes. Available in various sizes these brushes are the most simplest tool to use which trying to remove small deposits of carbon and scales. Brushes come in a few shape to ensure proper cleanig such as cup, circular, single spiral and double spiral among the popular types.

Some cases where the scales are too thick and the brushes are not so effective, many opt to use cutter heads as an alternative. Depending on curved or straight tube various models of cutters are available for scale removal. Once this is done the brush is used later to “polish” the internals of the tube.

All these tools are commonly fitted to a flexible hose which is attached to a water driven, air driven or electric driven motors of various horsepower. These machines make tube cleaning much simpler and saves a lot of time compared to old conventional methods which is ineffective and time consuming.

Some tubes which get damaged due to improper maintenance or wear and tear need to be replaced. Tube expanders and removal tools manually or electronically operated are used to remove and install new boiler tubes.
